Indoor Cinema – Event Checklist

A few things to check off as you prepare for your pop-up mobile cinema event at your indoor venue.

Access: We will require access to be as close as possible to the venue to enable us to bump-in the equipment as quickly and safely as possible. We will require the venue to be unlocked 4hrs before the scheduled screening time and the venue will need to be open 1 1/2hrs following the screening to allow for bump-out.
Please feel free to contact us for our vehicle details if you need to arrange a parking permit for loading dock’s etc.

Power: The cinema requires a 240v outlet (pref. 15amp but 10amp is also OK). It is also best if the cinema can be operating on a separate circuit to anything else. Popcorn machines, Urn’s and fridges can sometimes throw circuits and you don’t want that interrupting the show. We can supply a generator if your indoor venue doesn’t have power, however you will need to supply another generator for your lighting and catering requirements.

Exits: Make sure exits are clearly marked out in the case of an emergency. If you are welcoming the audience, it’s a good idea to point out where the exits are. Another good idea is creating a slide with a plan of the venue that has the exits marked out.

Toilets: Make sure there is enough signage to show the locations of the toilets. This information can also be included on your venue plan slide that displays your exits. It’s also a good idea to check toilet paper and soap supplies before you open to the public.

Lighting: It’s best that the venue be as dark as possible, just like a normal cinema. If the screening is during the day, windows may need to be blacked out or covered in some way.

Set-up Space: For the 6m wide screen we require a space of 12m x 4m and for our 4m wide screen 8m x 4m for the bump-in and pack down of the cinema. Once the screen is erected the seating can be moved into the available space.

APRA Licence: Make sure the venue has an APRA licence, if it doesn’t you can apply for a single event. For further information contact: www.apra.com.au SA Office – (08) 8239 2222

Ratings: Please make sure that the film rating symbol is included in your promotional material. It is the responsibility of the hirer to make sure the film rating laws are adhered to for the duration of the screening. For further information please contact The Australian Government, Office of Film Literature Classification: www.oflc.gov.au
