Release of the week – Thor: Ragnarok (M)
Available 7 March – Outdoor from 7 June 2018
Our number one release of the month goes to the latest and potentially the greatest addition to the Thor franchise, Thor: Ragnarock. Our Google+ March poll has Ragnarock taking first place at 40% surprisingly beating Star Wars: The Last Jedi that came second at 33%. A fair way behind the leaders was The Disaster Artist at 13%, The Greatest Showman at 8% and Murder On The Orient Express at 6%.

Obviously all Marvel releases get a strong following, but with light hearted New Zealand director Taika Waititi at the helm. Thor gets an injection of much needed humor into a genre that often takes itself far too seriously. And approach that has won the film both critical acclaim and a staggering box office result. It’s awesome to see a great director like Waititi making the tired genre of superhero films palatable to a larger audience, by surprisingly taking a fresh original approach to the material. Here’s only hoping that he can return to his smaller budget projects like; Hunt For The Wilderpeople, What We Do In The Shadows and Boy.

Thor: Ragnarock to date has grossed a worldwide total of $853.8 million, thoroughly hammering its predecessors, Thor ($449.3 million) and Thor: The Dark World ($644.6 million). And with a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, even the critics agree it’s the best in the franchise (Thor 77% & Thor The Dark World 66%).

Thor: Ragnarock (M) is currently available for Road Movie Mobile Cinema events. Please contact us for a film copyright quote for your next pop-up outdoor or indoor cinema event in South Australia or Victoria
