Yankalilla Football Club host the last Outdoor Cinema of the season 2017

fullsizeoutput_89e

The Yankalilla Football club hired our 4m wide screen outdoor cinema for an end of season screening of Zootopia for the kids and parents after the football on Saturday the 20th of May 2017. Despite the screening being so late in the season the weather held out and wasn’t even that cold. However due to the sunset time and the fact that the last game didn’t finish until 5pm it meant that we had to do the majority of the set-up in the dark which is a first. We had a great crowd of about 50-60 families that rugged up to watch the movie and a great time was had by all. The movie finished just at the right moment too, as the rain started coming down, aiding our speedy pack up.

Cinema Hire – Our indoor venue checklist

Things to check off as you prepare for your pop-up mobile cinema event at your indoor venue.

  1. Access – We will require access to be as close as possible to the venue to enable us to bump-in the equipment as quickly and safely as possible. We will require the venue to be unlocked 4hrs before the scheduled screening time and the venue will need to be open 1 1/2hrs following the screening to allow for bump-out.
  2. Power – The cinema requires a 240v outlet (pref. 15amp but 10amp is also OK). It is also best if the cinema can be operating on a separate circuit to anything else. Popcorn machines, Urn’s and fridges can sometimes throw circuits and you don’t want that interrupting the show. We can supply a generator if your indoor venue doesn’t have power, however you will need to supply another generator for your lighting and catering requirements.
  3. Exits – Make sure exits are clearly marked out in the case of an emergency. If you are welcoming the audience, it’s a good idea to point out where the exits are. Another good idea is creating a slide with a plan of the venue that has the exits marked out.
  4. Toilets –  Make sure there is enough signage to show the locations of the toilets. This information can also be included on your venue plan slide that displays your exits. It’s also a good idea to check toilet paper and soap supplies before you open to the public.
  5. Lighting –  It’s best that the venue be as dark as possible, just like a normal cinema. If the screening is during the day, windows may need to be blacked out or covered in some way.
  6. Set-up Area  – For the 6m wide screen we require a space of 12m x 4m and for our 4m wide screen 8m x 4m for the bump-in and pack down of the cinema. Once the screen is erected the seating can be moved into the available space.
  7. APRA Licence – Make sure that your venue has an APRA licence, if it doesn’t you can apply for a single event licence. For further information contact: APRA
  8. Ratings –  Please make sure that the film rating symbol is included in all of your promotional material. It is the responsibility of the hirer to make sure that the film rating laws are adhered to for the duration of the screening. For further information please contact The Australian Government, Office of Film Literature Classification:

500 people enjoy the riverside outdoor cinema at Renmark

500 people enjoy the riverside outdoor cinema at Renmark.

Road Movie Mobile Cinema’s forth trip to Renmark and our third screening for the Renmark and Paringa Council was located on the banks of the beautiful Murray River and featured a screening of the family animation ‘The Secret Life Of Pets‘.

After a week of heavy downpours in the riverland the clouds finally parted for our first riverside outdoor cinema located in the heart of Renmark. Despite the rainy and cool week the weather was perfect for the 22nd of April show.

The mobile cinema was situated between the river and the classic Ozone Cinema that hasn’t been in operation for many years. However it’s frontage did provide comfortable seating for the local pigeons to enjoy the show from.

The setting matched the weather in perfection and was fantastically laid out with white picket fencing surrounding the audience and a great selection of food and drinks vans located behind the audience that were beautifully decorated with festoon lighting.

As the sun set and the house lights gradually dimmed the audience steadily grew, with final estimations on the numbers to be around 500 people and at least 20 pigeons.

Weather too cold for an outdoor cinema? It’s not a problem with Road Movie Mobile Cinema

We can’t change the weather or install giant heaters, but our 6m, 4m and 3m wide screen cinemas are perfectly suited to moving indoors during the cooler seasons.  Our uniquely designed free standing screens can be erected quickly without the noisy blower required for inflatable screens.

Our mobile cinemas can return your local hall to it’s former glory or transform unique spaces into totally original cinematic events. We’ve had screenings in Library’s, Museums, Winery Barrel Rooms and more, and with a themed movie to compliment the location, you’ve got an exciting event that no other cinema’s can compete against.
